Lower Deschutes fishing report 9/14/19

September 14, 2019flyfishersplace

the fishing this week on the WS to TC section was outstanding for trout, and we've heard reports of a couple of steelhead being caught up there too. October Caddis pupa are starting to be on the menu, Girdle Bugs are good and Double Bead R/L Peacock Stones (aka the Cheeseburger). PT, Hares, Ear, Prince, … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 9/14/19

3 Creek Lake fishing report 9/14/19

September 14, 2019flyfishersplace

Kind of a weird time at 3 Creek at the end of summer, often is the case the fishing is slowish most of the time, with some better action towards evening at dusk. With the weather turning very fall like tomorrow through Wednesday this week I would guess the fishing will be fun with improving … Continue reading 3 Creek Lake fishing report 9/14/19

Lakes fishing report 9/14/19

September 14, 2019flyfishersplace

I guided Crane 5 of the last 8 days and it's overall been good, mostly on Leeches. This week they had days of liking Black, Maroon, Brown and Olive. Some days it was with a Red Bead, some days an Orange Bead and other times a subdued Gunmetal Bead. Fish are eating a lot water … Continue reading Lakes fishing report 9/14/19

Crooked River fishing report 9/14/19

September 14, 2019flyfishersplace

we love fall on the Crooked, especially this time of year when the water is still up and the hatches are coming on strong. Our guides are reporting excellent hatches of BWO, PMD and Mahogany Duns, midges and some caddis, plus some hopper action along the grassy banks. Nymphing has been very good on Perdigon's, … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 9/14/19

Metolius River fishing report 9/14/19

September 14, 2019flyfishersplace

the cornucopia of hatches also known as September is continuing in a great way. The weather is solid, but I am thinking with the change to cooler and wet weather for the next few days we might see a decrease in Caddis and Stone action and an increase on all the Mayflies until the warm … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 9/14/19

Fall River fishing report 9/14/19

September 14, 2019flyfishersplace

Fall River is fishing really well with good hatches and great nymphing opportunities all day long. We are finding fish spread all over the river from the headwaters to below the falls, so it is nice it's not all concentrated at the hatchery. BWO's are coming on strong with the autumn weather hitting, and expect … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 9/14/19

Metolius River fishing report 9/9/19

September 9, 2019flyfishersplace

It is really going strong on the Metolius! Green Drakes are the most exciting news since the last report, mixed with "lesser green drakes" also called Flav's. The big drakes are averaging size 10, but be prepared with even some 8's on the water. Flav's are mostly a size 14 but range up to 12. … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 9/9/19

Lower Deschutes report 8/24/19

August 24, 2019flyfishersplace

I just talked to a friend of mine who caught 2 steelhead this week. That is excellent news as the counts look pretty poor so far up the Columbia. Our guides are doing well on trout on the Warm Springs drift using ESN techniques and also indicators. Some of the action is also coming by … Continue reading Lower Deschutes report 8/24/19

Three Creek Lake fishing report 8/24/19

August 24, 2019flyfishersplace

The August doldrums have hit at the lake, with afternoon fishing turning tough, although evening fishing when the hatch gets going has remained good. The key is, go in the evening right now. We are seeing black caddis, callibaetis and midges in the evening. Hopefully soon the Callibaetis will be back in the late morning … Continue reading Three Creek Lake fishing report 8/24/19

Lakes (Hosmer, East and Crane) 8/24/19

August 24, 2019flyfishersplace

Lake fishing the Cascade and Newbury Crater area is good. Here is what we saw this week: Hosmer was outstanding with Damsel activity both nymphs and adults. There is also a fairly strong callibaetis hatch and some mixed caddis action. Fish are likely to be on Balanced Damsels, Red or Tan Chironomids, Zebra Midges, Water … Continue reading Lakes (Hosmer, East and Crane) 8/24/19
