Crooked River fishing report 7/20/19

July 20, 2019flyfishersplace

jeez, there are still days with pretty high moss clumps in the flow, and it's certainly possible to work around them by moving to other areas of the river, you may also be patient enough to fish through it and just accept the fact sometimes you have to clean your flies off. Interesting results from … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 7/20/19

Metolius River fishing report 7/20/19

July 20, 2019flyfishersplace

The upper river is improving with more golden stones and yellow sally's hatching. It can be very fun to fish a Clark's Stone or Norm Woods Special along the banks and fishy looking runs and log jams. the rest of the river is getting PMD's, Blue Wing Olives, a few caddis, an evening spinner fall … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 7/20/19

East Lake fishing report 7/20/19

July 20, 2019flyfishersplace

we experienced slower fishing this week. Maybe the full moon? maybe the wind? speaking of wind, the Pacific NW saw a record strong jet stream over the top of washington and oregon this week for any recorded period from April thru October. the measured winds aloft in the jet stream smashed any previous records kept … Continue reading East Lake fishing report 7/20/19

Lower Deschutes fishing report 7/13/19

July 13, 2019flyfishersplace

we love July on the lower D with Caddis, Pale Evening Dun and PMD hatches. Our FFP guides have been having great days down there, typically nymphing during the day and hitting the dries as the sun goes off the water.

Three Creeks Lake report 7/13/19

July 13, 2019flyfishersplace

lots of Callibaetis during the day, some damsels, ants, beetles, Chironomids and leeches. Fishing is very good from morning to dark. If you go in the morning or evening make sure to have bug spray. Lots of mosquitos looking to blood.

Crane & Hosmer report 7/13/19

July 13, 2019flyfishersplace

I had another super week guiding at Crane on the resort/Deschutes Channel side. I heard from some friends and customers that Quinn area was also good. Balanced Leeches were best for us. Definitely getting fish on Chironomids too. I'd call the fishing at CP quite good. Steve had a fun trip to Hosmer with guests … Continue reading Crane & Hosmer report 7/13/19

Crooked River fishing report 7/13/19

July 13, 2019flyfishersplace

The FFP guides have been hitting the Crooked nearly everyday, and we are happy to report the drifting algae is not gone completely, but way better. Most of the catch8ing has come with a nymph. Jigs, Perdigons, Scuds, Micromay's and Zebra's are great. Some dry fly fishing with PMD's, Parachute Adams, Griffiths Gnat, Ants, Hoppers … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 7/13/19

Metolius River fishing report 7/13/19

July 13, 2019flyfishersplace

it's been another great week on the Metolius, with better golden stone action, and plenty of PMD and BWO's on the water too. PMD's can be anytime between 11 am and 8 pm, and BWO's have been late afternoon to about 7 pm. Caddis have been pretty slow the last 2 weeks. The warmer weather … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 7/13/19

East Lake fishing report 7/13/19

July 13, 2019flyfishersplace

the last couple of days were tough fishing. We were getting fish on Callibaetis nymphs wind drifted and anchored up on an indicator. Also getting some fish on Chironomids and it's been cool to see as the water has warmed up to the 60's the action is going deeper (15 to 18' at the moment). … Continue reading East Lake fishing report 7/13/19

our favorite little lake is fishing well and access is all the way to the store. The fish are taking callibaetis, ants, beetles, Black X Caddis, leeches, Red Century Drive Midge, Chironomids, Damsel Nymphs and Mickey Finns. The fish are rising to hatches late morning and early afternoon and again in the evening to dark … Continue reading 3 Creeks Lake fishing report 6/28/19
