Cascade Lakes fishing report 6/15/19
East Lake is fishing well, with chironomid action under an indicator doing best, plus an increasing number of callibaetis hatching. We have also been doing well on ants, and some beetles too. Crane is good on chironomids and balanced leeches. Seems to me the Deschutes Channel has been best (at least on the days I've … Continue reading Cascade Lakes fishing report 6/15/19
Crooked River fishing report 6/15/19
Water flow level is great at 208 cfs, but currently there is a lot of algae debris drifting down the river. We've seen this before and it'll happen again, but its messy on your nymphs at the moment. Hope it clears soon. Fishing is fair, but not as good as usual. Nymphing is best, but … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 6/15/19
Metolius River fishing report 6/15/19
Drakes are now starting to come off a bit earlier, usually about 2:30 and may be even earlier. So look for the big bugs between 2 and 5. PMD's between noon and 8 PM. We are seeing better and better evening caddis emergences and a dusk rusty spinner fall. Nymphing continues to be very effective.
Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 6/10/19
Well, there are a few straggler stones around but it looks like we can call it a wrap on the 2019 stonefly season and move on to Caddis and Small Mayflies for the rest of the summer. We've been hitting the caddis hard and seeing increasing numbers of PMD's each week. Pale Evening Duns at … Continue reading Lower Deschutes Fishing Report 6/10/19
Three Creeks Lake OPEN 6/10/19
Great news. Most of the snow up the road is gone with the exception of a large patch right at the top of the hill. It's an easy walk over the snow to the lake with a tube or for wading anglers. Launching a boat is not yet an option. Ice is off. Joe was … Continue reading Three Creeks Lake OPEN 6/10/19
Cascade Lakes fishing report 6/10/19
I guided Crane again a few days ago. it was cool to have a couple of young guys who withstood the very bad weather and caught a bunch of fish on Chironomids and Black Hale Bopp Leeches and a fly they tied on a jig called a Little Bastard. Pretty sweet to see the line … Continue reading Cascade Lakes fishing report 6/10/19
Crooked River fishing report 6/10/19
The river levels are running perfect at 235 cfs. There have been a light mix of hatches; Caddis, PMD, Baetis, Mahogany Duns and Midges. You can try to match what you see or we've been having luck on the Renegades and Purple Haze type attractors on top. Nymphing is great, perdigons, Jigs, Micro May, 2 … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 6/10/19
Metolius River fishing report 6/10/19
Green Drakes and PMD's continue to be the main story line for now especially from Canyon Creek to below Bridge 99 with the drakes. PMD's and various caddis are out on the entire river, and there are areas where we are seeing some early golden stones, yellow sally's and rusty spinners. Drakes have been late … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 6/10/19
Fall River fishing report 6/10/19
The FFP guides have been hitting the Fall River with gusto lately and finding some very good fishing on a variety of dries and Euro Nymphs. PMD's, Yellow Sally's, Ant's, Beetle's, Olive Caddis and a Green Drake or two on most days that get the fish coming up and acting feisty. We've been knocking the … Continue reading Fall River fishing report 6/10/19
