Lava Lake Report 5/12/16

May 12, 2016flyfishersplace

Good fishing at Lava on small red chironomids or leeches.  There have been some fish looking up to some light callibaetis hatches, midges and a few ant's up on top.

Latest Road Update to Lava Lake 4/27/16

April 27, 2016flyfishersplace

From the Deschutes County Website. Cascade Lakes Highway is closed from Dutchman Flat around the back side of Mt. Bachelor and Elk Lake.  The gate at Deschutes Bridge is now open.  Access is now possible from the Crescent Cutoff in Klamath County, North to the Lava Lake entrance.  We are targeting a Memorial Day opening for the … Continue reading Latest Road Update to Lava Lake 4/27/16

Cascade Lakes update 4/26/16

April 26, 2016flyfishersplace 1 Comment

You know I pride myself on giving good and accurate reports. It is important to me and I know it influences people to go fish and have a trust that their free time (which is precious) is spent with the best chances of having a productive day. Well, I screwed up one report last week … Continue reading Cascade Lakes update 4/26/16

Cascade Lakes Report pre-opener! 4/21/16

April 21, 2016flyfishersplace

So stoked for Crane and Wickiup to open this weekend. Should be awesome with leeches on a sink line. Heard ODOT has the highway plowed to Devil's Lake coming from the south, so Lava should be open and ready for the weekend too. Don't think Hosmer will have the road in plowed. If you get … Continue reading Cascade Lakes Report pre-opener! 4/21/16

Cascade Lakes fishing report 4/10/16

April 10, 2016April 10, 2016flyfishersplace

There are quite a few lakes open (new 2016 reg's) and accessible. South Twin- heard of good fishing there last week. Hasn't been stocked yet but holdover rainbows on wooly buggers was fairly good. Davis Lake- had some friends there who caught some really nice bass in the weeds on poppers. Usually the lava dam … Continue reading Cascade Lakes fishing report 4/10/16

Cascade Lakes report 10/13/15

October 13, 2015flyfishersplace

We are seeing good fishing at Hosmer, Crane, East and Lava. Crane is giving up some big bow's in the flats near Rock Creek and off the resort. Mostly fish are coming to leech patterns and callibaetis nymphs. Hosmer is excellent with white streamers, and brightly colored Rufus patterns stripped fast, and more natural leech … Continue reading Cascade Lakes report 10/13/15

Cascade Lakes report 9/25/15

September 25, 2015flyfishersplace

Crane Prairie is the one to hit. Fish are on Leeches and Callibaetis Nymphs, although a Blood Worm should be great now too. Hosmer is good. Leeches and small Midge Pupa. A few Callibaetis and Damsels left but it's different and inconsistent on those hatches day by day. East is good too. Some fish up … Continue reading Cascade Lakes report 9/25/15

East Lake report 8/20/15

August 20, 2015flyfishersplace

I'd say it is the best callibaetis action so far of the season right now. Chironomids, Damsels and some terrestrials are in play throughout the day.

Cascade Lakes report 8/11/15

August 11, 2015flyfishersplace

East lake continues to be good. Chironomids in the morning and afternoon, callibaetis in the afternoon and in the evening. Some damsel action on both nymphs and dries. Look for little ants and beetles to bring fish up to the surface, especially near the White Slide in the mornings and afternoons. Hosmer has been excellent … Continue reading Cascade Lakes report 8/11/15

Cascade Lakes report July 22, 2015

July 22, 2015flyfishersplace

East lake was good this week on Callibaetis. It was very windy early in the week which surprised us based on the high pressure over the area, but a front did pass thru last night and today seems way calmer. There have been 2 hatch times of callibaetis, late morning and again about 7 to … Continue reading Cascade Lakes report July 22, 2015
