Jeff’s fishing report 10/25/20

October 25, 2020October 25, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Happy Sunday morning. It's 26 degrees right now, and I'm sitting by the wood stove watching the Titans vs Steelers, and thinking about how awesome the last 2 days on the Metolius were for me and my fishing friends. No fishing for me today, because the Pine Needle Piper needs to be paid... and the … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 10/25/20

Jeff’s fishing report 10/19/20

October 19, 2020October 19, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Happy Monday morning, it's been a busy last 4 days to (likely) put an end to my 2020 guide season. I was on Paulina (x2), Crane and Hosmer. It is certainly that time of year I can tell winter is coming soon, as water temp's in the morning are in the 40's and on the … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 10/19/20

Jeff’s fishing report 10/12/20

October 12, 2020October 12, 2020flyfishersplace

Happy (windy) Monday everyone. I was supposed to be on the water today and tomorrow, but realized in the wee hours of the morning that the wind was going to win today. So first thing this morning I had to call clients to reschedule trips that were scheduled today and tomorrow. The 2 weather app's … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 10/12/20

10/3/20 Fishing Update

October 3, 2020October 3, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Hello everyone, I am writing today from Seaside on the Oregon Coast. There is no fishing this weekend but I am looking forward to my week ahead which includes 4 more days of guide trips on the lakes (and if the stars align a day on the Metolius). We walked the beach in Gearhart today … Continue reading 10/3/20 Fishing Update

Jeff’s end of September fishing report 9/26/20

September 26, 2020September 26, 2020flyfishersplace

If you are reading this from Oregon you know we got a small blessing of fall weather and some good rains in many areas around the state. Places that had been hit hard with wild fire earlier this month were soaked. I don't know how that moves us along with getting the fires all out, … Continue reading Jeff’s end of September fishing report 9/26/20

Jeff’s Fishing Update 9/21/2020

September 21, 2020September 21, 2020flyfishersplace 1 Comment

I was hopeful to write this update over the weekend with the news that the Metolius was opening below Bridge 99. But so far, that announcement by the USFS has not happened. The Level 1 and Level 2 evacuation notices are now lifted for the Metolius corridor and that is excellent news. But the closures … Continue reading Jeff’s Fishing Update 9/21/2020

Jeff’s report for Sept 12, 2020

September 12, 2020September 13, 2020flyfishersplace 6 Comments

What a sad week for Oregon. This will be such a different report from last Saturday, which was full of optimism and the joy of fall fishing to come. While there is still optimism and days of joy ahead, let me take a second to say how sad I am to see the devastation all … Continue reading Jeff’s report for Sept 12, 2020

Sept 5, 2020 Fishing Report

Happy Labor Day Weekend. I know a lot of you are hiding out for a few days, waiting for the Holiday to pass by, and some of you are reading this right now preparing for some immediate fishing, tying flies and organizing gear. I am hiding out in the back room of the shop right … Continue reading Sept 5, 2020 Fishing Report

Jeff’s fishing report 8/29/20

August 29, 2020August 29, 2020flyfishersplace 3 Comments

the bell is ringing that summer is quickly coming to an end for me. Today was the last summer class I taught at Black Butte Ranch for the year and it is dark at 8 PM. Days of fishing the streams until 9:45 and squeezing a 6x tippet through a #16 rusty spinner at 9:15 … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 8/29/20

Jeff’s fishing report 8/22/20

August 22, 2020August 23, 2020flyfishersplace 3 Comments

it's been a little unsettling this week with the Green Ridge Fire that started above the Metolius with a bolt of lightning on Sunday evening. The Metolius is our favorite river (my favorite in all the world) and is our home waters. When a fire is so close it makes us all a little uneasy. … Continue reading Jeff’s fishing report 8/22/20
