Fishing update 6/12/2021

June 12, 2021June 12, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

I hope all of you have had the chance to go be on the water someplace recently. It has been a wild week with fishing, and also some pretty terrible weather in a lot of the places I have been fishing and guiding. Last saturday, after hitting the "publish" button on last weeks report, Tina … Continue reading Fishing update 6/12/2021

June 5, 2021June 5, 2021flyfishersplace 2 Comments

Good morning friends. Hope all is well with everyone and that you are getting out to the lakes and rivers. Our FFP guide team, the shop staff and myself have been all over Central Oregon since the last report exploring the waters, seeing the hatches and catching some fish. Sometimes a lot of fish. The … Continue reading June 5th, 2021 Fishing Update

Memorial Day fishing update 5/28/21

May 28, 2021May 28, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Another crazy week of weather in Central Oregon. 3 of my 4 guide days this week were bundled up against the elements (rain and cold) with as much Simms and Patagonia waterproof and insulation gear as we could wear. So, waking up today and seeing the forecast for the next 7 to 10 days is … Continue reading Memorial Day fishing update 5/28/21

Good morning everyone. It is an exciting day around Sisters and the Metolius as the rest of the upper river opens today. Openers for the late trout season include the Upper Deschutes, Whychus Creek, Tumalo Creek and the Metolius from Allingham up the headwaters. If you wondered why some of the waters are a month … Continue reading The 2nd Opener! 5/22/21 Fishing Reports

Fishing Updates 5/14/2021

May 14, 2021May 14, 2021flyfishersplace

The Metolius is starting to see better Green Drake hatches, and even if you don’t see a lot of naturals, between 2 and 5 look for splashy takes and fish that water with an emerger or dun.  The Green Drakes will be in full swing by the end of the month but are already off to … Continue reading Fishing Updates 5/14/2021

Fishing Updates 5/7/2021

May 7, 2021flyfishersplace

It’s been a week of great fishing around the region, with exciting improvements on the local waters we are excited to share with you. The Metolius is really revving up now, with more and more hatches, and hatches that will be here to stay for the Summer season! Green Drake action is spotty yet, but if … Continue reading Fishing Updates 5/7/2021

Fishing update 5/1/2021

May 1, 2021May 1, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

I don't know about you, but May is my month. OK, it's really the start of my favorite stretch of months because it just screams prime fishing season has arrived, and it is so full of hope. May brings water temperatures that influence the metabolic rate of the trout we are pursuing. Water temps above … Continue reading Fishing update 5/1/2021

April 24 Fishing Update

April 24, 2021April 24, 2021flyfishersplace 4 Comments

Good morning! It is cold here in Sisters again for a few days. There is a little snow coming in on the mountains and maybe some spits of snow and rain in and around the area. I know the river conditions are going to be good, and we should see some good hatches and overall … Continue reading April 24 Fishing Update

Fishing update 4/10/21

April 10, 2021April 10, 2021flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Today is a cold and windy day across the region, and a reminder that spring is a transitional time. We win and we lose when it comes to the weather, but winning on the fishing more and more. It was so windy down on the Metolius this morning there were some trees down. And snowflakes … Continue reading Fishing update 4/10/21
