Metolius Report 9/25/15

September 25, 2015flyfishersplace

Green Drakes AND Golden Stones march on! Dry Fly action is super good. Also, BWO, PMD, Mahogany Dun, 4 or 5 species of Caddis and quite a few Little Olive Stones still around. Bull Trout are eating Kokanee, and also eating Kokanee eggs. Everything eats the Kokanee eggs so don't forget an orange egg fly … Continue reading Metolius Report 9/25/15

Metolius River fishing report 8/20/15

August 20, 2015flyfishersplace 1 Comment

The Golden Stones are still hatching well in the upper river and have expended the range into the top of the canyon. I'd say in a week we will see some around the hatchery too. Along with Golden Stones, keep an eye out for Salmonflies now too around Wizard Falls. This is the time of … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 8/20/15

Metolius Report 8/11/15

August 11, 2015flyfishersplace

There are still a bunch of Golden Stones hatching from the headwaters to about Gorge CG. Most days you should be able to rise fish on the adult, but the nymph is always good. There are PMD's all over the river now and that makes Rusty Spinner falls at dusk. Besides Rusty Spinners look for … Continue reading Metolius Report 8/11/15

Metolius River Report 7/31/15

July 31, 2015flyfishersplace

Some darn good PMD hatches have been coming off most afternoons around 1 to 3. There is another bigger mayfly mixed in called Ameletus which are matched nicely with a #12 Flav/Small Green Drake pattern. In fact I took this trout on a #12 GD Film Critic which imitated the emerging Ameletus. In the early … Continue reading Metolius River Report 7/31/15

Metolius Report 7/22/15

July 22, 2015flyfishersplace

Golden Stone hatches have slowed down a bit in the upper river, but they will improve and be back as we move into August and September. the fish are still looking for them so don't stop fishing the dries or the nymphs. I am surprised how many people have used a good old Renegade and … Continue reading Metolius Report 7/22/15

Metolius River 7/17/15

July 17, 2015flyfishersplace

Lot's of good fishing on all the Fly Water. Upper River Golden Stone emergence is still strong, and we have been getting fish up on #14 Tan Caddis, Renegades and #16 PMD's. In the Middle River, the Caddis have been spottier but PMD's have been good. BWO's are coming on between 4 and 7 most … Continue reading Metolius River 7/17/15

Metolius River 7/9/15

July 9, 2015flyfishersplace

WOWZA the Golden Stones are hatching hard around Camp Sherman. PMD's, Caddis and BWO's pretty much in all the river from Tract C to Candle Creek. Spinners at dusk pretty much every night. If you are a good nymph fisherman you can fish anytime, but the main hatches are about noon to 4, and again … Continue reading Metolius River 7/9/15

Metolius River 7/6/15

July 6, 2015flyfishersplace

The very best place in Oregon to beat the heat as far as i'm concerned. I spent the weekend of the 4th fishing every night and found nice caddis hatches and rusty spinners at dark. From friends that had the chance to be on the river all day, they reported PMD's, a mix of Green … Continue reading Metolius River 7/6/15
