East Lake Fishing Report 7/8/16

July 8, 2016flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Callibaetis are the ticket, with hatches most days going well. Today the hatch began around 10 AM, a few days ago it was 2 PM and a few days before that they were best about 6 PM. I have no idea why, all I can say is be prepared and look for them close to … Continue reading East Lake Fishing Report 7/8/16

Cascade Lakes report 6/30/16

June 30, 2016flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Hosmer is best early in the AM and late in the PM. Mid-day is slower but you can work a damsel nymph along the banks or an ant on the surface. Callibaetis are on, usually with 2 hatches per day, the best in the evening. At dusk there is a tiny Caenis mayfly that the … Continue reading Cascade Lakes report 6/30/16

Cascade Lake report 6/21/16

June 21, 2016flyfishersplace

East Lake- very good. Callibaetis, Chironomids, Ants and Beetles. Also, don't forget the little streamer patterns. Hosmer- good. Callibaetis, Damsel nymphs, ant's and beetles, small red ice cream cone and small black chironomids and some light but soon to be improving caddis and caenis hatches. Crane Prairie- good- Chironomids and Leeches and Damsels. Some callibaetis … Continue reading Cascade Lake report 6/21/16

East Lake update 6/14/16

June 14, 2016flyfishersplace

I've fished East Lake for 43 years and have guided it for 5 years. Yesterday, even in the wind was one of the best dry fly days I've ever seen. Callibaetis were good, Ants and Beetles were really good. Who knows if it will be that good for long, but of course Chironomids and Callibaetis … Continue reading East Lake update 6/14/16

Cascade Lakes report 6/10/16

June 10, 2016flyfishersplace

East Lake is good. I've been guiding up there a bunch and we are getting a fair number of good browns in about 15 feet of water on a deep sunk chironomid under a bobber. Wind Drifting with intermediate lines and callibaetis nymphs is good for a lot of Kokanee and a few trout. Callibaetis … Continue reading Cascade Lakes report 6/10/16

Cascade Lakes update 6/1/16

June 1, 2016flyfishersplace

East Lake- yesterday there was a good flying ant hatch and midge hatch and fish were rising. Best action will come on a hover or intermediate line with a Possie Bugger trailed by a Flashback PT (no bead). Chironomids under an indicator is always good at East, but right now the fish are shallow so … Continue reading Cascade Lakes update 6/1/16

East Lake update 5/27/16

May 27, 2016flyfishersplace 1 Comment

So, fishing is pretty good despite water temps only at 44 to 45 degrees. Trout are in the shallows 12 feet and under under. We did best in about 10 feet of water fishing a black chironomid under an indicator. Wind Drifting a Possie Bugger and Flashback PT was good on an intermediate line on … Continue reading East Lake update 5/27/16

East Lake is open and other Lake updates 5/23/16

May 23, 2016flyfishersplace

East Lake is open! Hooray. Heard the weather for the weekend was awful but the fish were on the bite, especially on chironomids. Crane is good. Leeches and Damsel Nymphs are the best, but chironomids and callibaetis nymphs are taking fish as well. Some hatch of callibaetis bringing a few fish up but it's mostly … Continue reading East Lake is open and other Lake updates 5/23/16

Hosmer Lake report 5/16/16

May 16, 2016flyfishersplace

Hosmer is open and fishing well. I was up on both Saturday and Sunday. We didn't get much time on the water saturday due to thunder & lightning and pretty heavy rain, but it was a good 1st day of the season for us. On Sunday I guided some guys and while it rained all … Continue reading Hosmer Lake report 5/16/16

Lava Lake Report 5/12/16

May 12, 2016flyfishersplace

Good fishing at Lava on small red chironomids or leeches.  There have been some fish looking up to some light callibaetis hatches, midges and a few ant's up on top.
