Longhollow Ranch private access 5/7/19

May 7, 2019flyfishersplace

Fishing is heating up at Longhollow and definitely worth fishing now. Callibaetis nymphs and leeches, but with really warm weather this weekend I'd say Callibaetis dries will be on the menu ASAP! Also damsels. Great trout opportunities as well as Bass. $150 full day and $85 half day. Call us at (541)549-3474 to book a … Continue reading Longhollow Ranch private access 5/7/19

Cascade Lakes report 5/7/19

May 7, 2019flyfishersplace

I was on Crane a few days ago and besides millions of annoying midges in my face, fishing was good on Leeches on a Hover Line. Lots of rainbows in the 12 to 16" range. We also got some fish on Chironomids and that is a constant at CP all spring and summer. I hope … Continue reading Cascade Lakes report 5/7/19

Crooked River fishing report 5/7/19

May 7, 2019flyfishersplace

Hard to believe the water is still in the high 400's, but the reservoir is 100% full and they are letting out about what is coming in. Makes sense. The fishing is actually good, a little different than fishing it at normal summer flow which is about 250 cfs but it's not bad wading and … Continue reading Crooked River fishing report 5/7/19

Metolius River fishing report 5/7/19

May 7, 2019flyfishersplace

We want to remind people that the river from headwaters to Allingham is still closed to protect the spawning areas. It opens May 22. the river from Allingham to Lake Billy Chinook is open year round as always. We remind people of this because a lot of people either don't know, or they are sneaking … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 5/7/19

Middle Deschutes Salmonflies! 5/7/19

May 7, 2019flyfishersplace

The big bugs (salmonflies and golden stones) are out in the Steelhead Falls area. There are also March Browns, Pale Morning Duns, Pale Evening Duns and Caddis throughout the Middle Deschutes. Water is perfect, a little low actually. Normal for when all the canals are getting "juiced". Besides dry fly fishing we are also having … Continue reading Middle Deschutes Salmonflies! 5/7/19

East Lake 5/1/19

May 1, 2019flyfishersplace

East Lake: It's going to be a while. According to a good source the road is clear up to the lake thanks to Deschutes County Road Dept, but the snow gate is closed and locked. The Lake is ice covered except for the Hot Springs at the moment. The real issue is the boat ramps … Continue reading East Lake 5/1/19

Lower Deschutes fishing report 5/1/19

May 1, 2019flyfishersplace

Whew, what an opener! Best week of opening fishing I think we've ever seen. We are smacking them on nymphs but so far nothing really on dries. Girdle Bugs, Stonefly Nymphs, Lightning Bugs, Caddis Pupa, Perdigons, PT's, 2 Bit Hookers and Jigs are freaking awesome. The water conditions are perfect, under 5000 (today 4740 and … Continue reading Lower Deschutes fishing report 5/1/19

Middle Deschutes 5/1/19

May 1, 2019flyfishersplace

The water is down a lot, but still a little high at just over 200 cfs. 140 is pretty standard summer flow. March Brown hatches are very good and there are a lot of Caddis and some BWO's and the 1st of PMD's out already. This basically means a March Browns, Purple Haze, Yellow Sparkle … Continue reading Middle Deschutes 5/1/19

Lakes 5/1/19

May 1, 2019flyfishersplace 1 Comment

Crane has been producing well but seems like a lot of small fish (12-14 inchers) with occasional big kids coming to play. Leeches and Chironomids so far are the best way to hit them. An all red #16 ice cream cone is #1, #2 is black and red #14 and balanced leeches have been great. … Continue reading Lakes 5/1/19
