the cornucopia of hatches also known as September is continuing in a great way. The weather is solid, but I am thinking with the change to cooler and wet weather for the next few days we might see a decrease in Caddis and Stone action and an increase on all the Mayflies until the warm … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 9/14/19

what a week it's been on the Metolius. Green Drakes were the best I saw all season last Saturday, although as of this week the drake action is pretty much done until fall with just an isolated hatch here and there. If you're fishing the canyon, hatchery or Bridge 99 area I'd carry a few … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 6/28/19

Happy 1st day of summer. Green Drakes probably have about a week left before they are kaput until the September hatch! We are seeing lower numbers of drakes this weeks, and I am wondering if that had more to do with the windy days than being over. In all my years of being here and … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 6/21/19

Drakes are now starting to come off a bit earlier, usually about 2:30 and may be even earlier. So look for the big bugs between 2 and 5. PMD's between noon and 8 PM. We are seeing better and better evening caddis emergences and a dusk rusty spinner fall. Nymphing continues to be very effective.
