Metolius River

Metolius River fishing report 6/10/19

June 10, 2019flyfishersplace

Green Drakes and PMD's continue to be the main story line for now especially from Canyon Creek to below Bridge 99 with the drakes. PMD's and various caddis are out on the entire river, and there are areas where we are seeing some early golden stones, yellow sally's and rusty spinners. Drakes have been late … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 6/10/19

Metolius River fishing report 5/31/19

May 31, 2019flyfishersplace

Green Drakes and PMD's are the hot hatches. We are getting a lot of questions about the Green Drakes, and the answer is the hatch is on, it will be getting better, the next 3 to       3 1/2 weeks are the best times of the hatch. The fish will be looking up … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 5/31/19

Metolius River fishing report 5/16/19

May 16, 2019flyfishersplace

The PMD's have really started this week! So many duns on the water about 1 to 3 the last few days. While there are very few Green Drakes hatch so far, we had 2 days this week of catching fish on Drake dries. The real hatch is still probably 2 weeks away, then for 3 … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 5/16/19

Metolius River fishing report 5/7/19

May 7, 2019flyfishersplace

We want to remind people that the river from headwaters to Allingham is still closed to protect the spawning areas. It opens May 22. the river from Allingham to Lake Billy Chinook is open year round as always. We remind people of this because a lot of people either don't know, or they are sneaking … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 5/7/19

Metolius River fishing report 5/1/19

May 1, 2019flyfishersplace

While hatches are consistent right now, the fish rising to them are not. That is very normal for this time of year, and the fact is, you could be the lucky one to be on the river, in the right place at the right time and get into a bunch of risers! It happens, but … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 5/1/19

Metolius River fishing report 4/24/19

April 24, 2019flyfishersplace

Fishing remains good on the Metolius, primarily nymphing but with some dry fly action mid afternoon with BWO's and Cinygmula's. There have been some standout nymphs that have been better than most. Squirmey's have been one, Perdigon's, Jig PT, Kerotene, 2 Bit Hooker, Frenchie, Egg's and Zebra Midges. Bull Trout action has been fairly good, … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 4/24/19

Metolius River Fishing Report 3/22/19

March 22, 2019flyfishersplace

The next couple of cloudy rainy days should be sweet for mayfly hatches! BWO have been coming off strong, and we are seeing the beginning of the spring cinygmula hatch now. There are some caddis coming off too, but not many fish coming after adults, so be prepared to hit them with the pupa's as … Continue reading Metolius River Fishing Report 3/22/19

Metolius River fishing report 3/12/19

March 12, 2019flyfishersplace

the snow is going away and settling, and melting pretty well. Still plenty of it out on the river but you'll find access to be much easier than when I wrote the last report. BWO hatches are strong and fish have been looking up to the mergers and duns, and definitely eating nymphs in the … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 3/12/19

Metolius River fishing report 3/4/19

March 4, 2019flyfishersplace

Holy smokes, we really got pounded with snow and bad weather for the last week or more. So, I have to say a few things here, first there have not been too many people out fishing because of the roads and the deep snow on the edges of the rivers. I am going to guess … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 3/4/19

Metolius River fishing report 2/15/19

February 15, 2019flyfishersplace

The mid afternoon BWO hatch this week has been strong. They love hatching in this weather and the fish were looking up hard the last 2 days. Besides BWO's there are a fair number of little black stones too. I'd carry a few #16-18 Black Elk Caddis and trim the hackle off them for the … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 2/15/19
