Metolius River Fishing Report 11/17/15

November 17, 2015flyfishersplace

Well, the weather is really crappy today but the fishing trend out here is good. As I write this we are seeing 50 mph wind gusts. Better weather tomorrow and for the weekend forecast. Looks like Cinygmula's are wrapped up. Maybe on the warmer days ahead (not many in the forecast) we may see a … Continue reading Metolius River Fishing Report 11/17/15

Metolius River Fishing Report 11/2/15

November 2, 2015flyfishersplace

November is a good time on the Metolius, the crowds have really thinned and there are still a lot of good hatches. Remember the upper river from Allingham Bridge to the Headwaters has closed for the winter and won't open again until late May to protect spawning fish. This time of year, the PMD's dwindle … Continue reading Metolius River Fishing Report 11/2/15

Metolius River fishing report 10/13/15

October 13, 2015flyfishersplace

Hatches continue to be very good, although less complex than our last reporting. This week expect PMD's, Mahogany Duns and BWO's. There are still a few drakes lingering which is fantastic but I don't expect them to be out much after it cools this weekend. There are still a lot of Golden Stones plus October … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 10/13/15

Metolius Report 9/25/15

September 25, 2015flyfishersplace

Green Drakes AND Golden Stones march on! Dry Fly action is super good. Also, BWO, PMD, Mahogany Dun, 4 or 5 species of Caddis and quite a few Little Olive Stones still around. Bull Trout are eating Kokanee, and also eating Kokanee eggs. Everything eats the Kokanee eggs so don't forget an orange egg fly … Continue reading Metolius Report 9/25/15

Metolius epic fishing report 9/11/15

September 11, 2015flyfishersplace

Fishing is really good. Green Drakes and Flavs are on. PMD, Mahogany Duns, Caddis and a lot of good stonefly action right now.

Metolius River fishing report 8/20/15

August 20, 2015flyfishersplace 1 Comment

The Golden Stones are still hatching well in the upper river and have expended the range into the top of the canyon. I'd say in a week we will see some around the hatchery too. Along with Golden Stones, keep an eye out for Salmonflies now too around Wizard Falls. This is the time of … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 8/20/15

Metolius Report 8/11/15

August 11, 2015flyfishersplace

There are still a bunch of Golden Stones hatching from the headwaters to about Gorge CG. Most days you should be able to rise fish on the adult, but the nymph is always good. There are PMD's all over the river now and that makes Rusty Spinner falls at dusk. Besides Rusty Spinners look for … Continue reading Metolius Report 8/11/15

Metolius River Report 7/31/15

July 31, 2015flyfishersplace

Some darn good PMD hatches have been coming off most afternoons around 1 to 3. There is another bigger mayfly mixed in called Ameletus which are matched nicely with a #12 Flav/Small Green Drake pattern. In fact I took this trout on a #12 GD Film Critic which imitated the emerging Ameletus. In the early … Continue reading Metolius River Report 7/31/15

Metolius Report 7/22/15

July 22, 2015flyfishersplace

Golden Stone hatches have slowed down a bit in the upper river, but they will improve and be back as we move into August and September. the fish are still looking for them so don't stop fishing the dries or the nymphs. I am surprised how many people have used a good old Renegade and … Continue reading Metolius Report 7/22/15
