Metolius River fishing report 3/11/16

March 11, 2016flyfishersplace

Amazing fishing right now and I expect it to be better as move in to March. Good afternoon hatches of BWO's and some cinygmula's. The cinygmula's will get better and better in later March. Usually over spring break time is the best hatch of these #14-16 yellow mayflies. Still a bunch of October Caddis and … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 3/11/16

Metolius River Fishing Report 3/5/16

March 5, 2016flyfishersplace

Fishing is good for sure! Hatches are decent to good everyday, with more and more mayfly hatches showing up. BWO's and Cinygmula hatches in the mid afternoon between noon and 3. You may see a 2nd hatch in the late afternoon or early evening but I'd be more inclined to look for caddis then. Speaking … Continue reading Metolius River Fishing Report 3/5/16

Metolius fishing report 2/16/16

February 16, 2016flyfishersplace

Fishing remains good and this winter may go down as one of the best we've seen for trout and Bull Trout! Lots of BWO's now and most days will see some rise activity so look for that around 1 or 2. Plenty of Silver Stripe Sedge so we've been suggesting the #12 Orange Elk Hair … Continue reading Metolius fishing report 2/16/16

Metolius fishing report 2/2/16

February 2, 2016flyfishersplace

Hi gang, I am back from 2 weeks away and have been home long enough to know I miss the summer weather in the Southern Hemisphere (like, a lot!) and that the fishing on the Metolius was pretty darn good while I was gone. I've been able to catch up with several good anglers and … Continue reading Metolius fishing report 2/2/16

Metolius Report 1-11-16

January 11, 2016flyfishersplace

Squeezing one more in before takeoff. Fishing is good. Some days quite good. Mostly on Stone Nymphs and Copper Johns. Hares Ears and Tan Caddis Pupa are great too and in the morning I'd go with a BWO Nymph since the BWO hatch has really improved the last 10 days or so. I had a … Continue reading Metolius Report 1-11-16

New Years 2016 Metolius Update

December 31, 2015flyfishersplace

Brrr....but, the fishing is worth it. Fish seem pretty active most days on nymphs. Small Caddis Larva and Pupa patterns are producing the best, along with Copper Johns, small BWO nymph patterns, Zebra Midges and Lightning Bugs. While you usually wanted/needed to fish these off a dropper from a heavy Golden Stone Nymph, in 2016 … Continue reading New Years 2016 Metolius Update

Metolius Fishing Report 12-16-15

December 16, 2015flyfishersplace

It's been really nice for several days. Last week the water came up but it settled fast and is a perfect 1500 cfs. Allingham, and the Hatchery area are good access points you can always count on. Yesterday we were able to get to Bridge 99. Nymping is the way to go mostly, but there … Continue reading Metolius Fishing Report 12-16-15

Metolius River fishing report 12/8/15

December 8, 2015flyfishersplace

High Water coming down the trib's and creeks. Not too high, but rising so keep an eye on it. It's almost 2100 at the gauge and that is up 600+ cfs in the last 48 hours. I'll tell you that Bull Trout like the higher water. It's always cool when the water comes up like … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report 12/8/15

Metolius River fishing report for Thanksgiving 2015

November 25, 2015flyfishersplace

Its cold and getting colder (for the next 3 days) but the Metolius is the best game in the area for fishing on the cold days due to the spring fed waters there. There is snow on the ground out there. Roads are plowed in Camp Sherman and down to the Hatchery. Be careful if … Continue reading Metolius River fishing report for Thanksgiving 2015
